The Power of the spoken word
"By Jesus Ramos Jr."
Words have power.
What we choose to say can dramatically impact every aspect of our lives as well as the lives of others.
Genesis 1:3, 6, 9, 11, 14, 15, 20, 24, 26.
The words "And God said"...implies that God "spoke" all creation into existence. It was His "word" that created all things. It is this creative power that we, as children of an OMNIPOTENT (all powerful) God, need to tap into. Once we begin to understand this concept we will develop the basis that will empower our lives, as well as the lives of others.
To begin, we need to read in our bibles in the book of Ephesians 4: 22, 23. Starting at verse 17 we can learn how to be transformed by putting off the former way of doing things, and being renewed in the spirit of our minds.
Our minds are the emphasis here.
We humans tend to be habitual creatures, as 90% of everything we do, we do by habit. We need to develop the habits that will produce POWERFUL results!
Philippians 4: 8
States that we should always think about good things. In most cases when we think good thoughts, the evidence will be manifested in what we say. The same holds true when we think evil thoughts. (See also) Ephesians 4: 29, 31. What we fill our hearts with, are the things that we will primarily speak about; Matthew 12:34. We may need to make drastic changes in what we choose to listen to, what we watch, who we spend our time with, and the places we choose to go.
1 Corinthians 15:33
Speaking evil will contaminate us;
Mark 7: 18-23.
What corrupts us is what comes out of our mouths.
Now that we have established that all negative conversation is an overflow of what's stored in our hearts, we need to change what we fill our hearts and minds with, so that the end result is conversation that will build-up, rather than tear down or destroy. The Apostle Paul wrote that all things were lawful (or acceptable) but that all things don't produce good results;
1 Corinthians 6:12/ 10:23.
James 1: 6-8.
There is an epidemic within the body of Christ, of double-minded believers;
Believers that will claim to be in victory one moment, and the next moment with the same mouth will speak negatively, not realizing that in so doing, will make the word of God ineffectual;
James 3: 10.
This is the reason why so many believers appear to be defeated. As if financial difficulty, broken homes, dysfunctional households, unemployment, or sickness and suffering can shorten the hand of the Lord so that it cannot save;
Isaiah 59:1.
GOD FORBID!
When are we, as the body of Christ, going to stand on the Word of God? That Word that is able to increase faith; Romans 10: 17. That Word that is Spirit and Life; John 6:63. That Word that is able to set you free; John 8:32. Jesus said that the Father seeks those that worship Him in Spirit and Truth; John 4: 23, 24. The Words of Jesus are Spirit and life, and Jesus is the Truth. Get the connection? This is the key that will unlock the door to a new dimension in your Christian walk!
"How is this done You might ask?" This is where the rubber meets the road! Let's look at 2 Chronicles chapter 20. This is a classic example of how you may overcome any difficulty you may be faced with. First Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, receives news that a great multitude is advancing towards him to do battle. Very much like circumstances in our lives, which seem to overwhelm us. His first reaction was to become afraid, a natural human response. Instead of allowing his fear to get the best of him, he set himself to seek the Lord and proclaimed a fast.
What difficulties are you facing right now? (Prayer changes things. Because you're not seeing immediate results, doesn't mean that God doesn't hear you.)
All Judah assembled before the house of the Lord, and Jehoshaphat reminded God of The promises He made to the nation of Israel...He spoke the word! Are you applying the Word of God to your situation? As he spoke, the spirit of God entered a man by the name of Jahaziel and the Lord spoke telling the people not to be afraid because the battle was not their's but the Lord's. Yet the Lord asked them to go out against them! We need to be on the offensive. Are you on the assault, or are you being beaten down by the enemy? The next morning Jehoshaphat appointed singers, to sing the beauty of holiness, and the Levites began to praise God. This demonstrates obedience, because he set the people to march as God had appointed in His Word. Are you being obedient to the Word? As they began to praise God, God set the enemy against each other that by the time the children of Judah arrived where they were, there were dead bodies everywhere...not one was left alive!!!
Sometimes we make our problems look so much bigger than they actually are, as if God is not able to resolve it. And we believe that our bickering and complaining actually does something for us...but it doesn't. We need to get up and start to speak the Word of God. Pray the word of God. Start to speak prosperity, health, the salvation of our spouses, and loved ones, and see if God is not able to do them. In the midst of your difficulties, sing to the Lord, put off from you the filth of this present age, and put on the garment of praise. Worship and adore God. Develop an attitude of thanksgiving. Stand in the gap, and intercede for others. Don't allow your prayer life to become an endless list of things you want God to give you. Thank God for the things you wish to have in your life, as if you already had them. Even when things don't appear to be any better, don't stop...your redemption is on its way. This is power. When you can face your circumstances in seeking the Lord's face. 2 Chronicles 7: 14 The Lord will respond. Jeremiah 33: 3 Stop the negative and filthy speech. Fill yourself with the word of God. Listen to Christian music. Watch wholesome programming. Fellowship with other believers. Don't look for reasons to miss church. There is safety within the ARK. It is my sincere desire that you be blessed by this message. God Bless You and keep you in His love!
