Who is He and what is He to you?

Philippians 2:9-11; Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth; And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

As if we didn't have enough things to contend with, our spiritual brethren the Jewish people say that we call God the Father and Jesus Christ by the wrong names. The arguments are supported by much research, documentation and historical data, but even a liar can present evidence to support his views, especially if he wants to sound convincing. I'm not calling anyone a liar, I'm just trying to make a point. All a liar needs is someone that will listen to and believe the lie. So what is all the hoopla about? A horse by any other name is still a horse. I don't know what Adam called that animal because I wasn't there. I just know that if the Bible says that Adam named the animal that is what I accept. So what about the name of Jesus? Well let's start by looking at the name of Jesus.

Jesus is a translation of the Greek name "Iesous" (pronounced "[ee]yeh-sooce"). "Iesous" came over into the Latin "Jesu" (pronounced "yehsoo") and it was directly translated into English as "Jesus." All original manuscripts of the New Testament exist in Greek. Jesus is the English pronouncement of our Lord and savior the Messiah. Yeshua is also correct as it derives from the Hebrew Joshua which is a type of Christ Yeshua is the Hebrew pronunciation of Iesous.

For anyone to suggest that Yeshua or Yahushuah is the correct english pronunciation for Iesous must assume that we all speak Modern Hebrew. The fact is that the name Jesus in anyone's native language has power. I don't have a problem with the name Jesus. I know who does have a problem with that name. You know him also. His name is Satan. That name has power over him and over his kingdom. Regardless of how you choose to pronounce the name of Jesus it still means the same thing in any language. So whether I say Jesus in English or in Spanish or Hebrew or any other language it still means the same thing to me. My name Jesus which is the name given to me at birth is just my name. In Hispanic culture it is actually a very common name as many Hispanics have biblical names which derive from the heavy Catholic influence on the culture. But the name of Jesus in reference to Christ is another matter altogether. I know who He is and what He is to me. I also know who I am and what I am in Him.

Matthew 18:20; "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure this out. It means exactly what it says. where there are 2 or 3 or more people in a group in the name of Jesus, He says he is right there with them. The catch is that you should be doing spiritual things like praying, reading the word, singing psalms or hymns, I think you know what I mean. If you can't get to a church there is no reason why you can't get a few people together to pray or to praise and worship God.

Mark 16:17,18; "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

Okay, so does this mean that we can take this verse literally also? Yes it does! If you don't believe then it doesn't matter what you do. I'm not referring to just spiritual things. Take a runner for instance. If he or she doesn't believe that they can win a race they might as well not run. They have already lost before they even started. We can argue about this until Jesus comes, but I'm going to believe what the Bible says. I've seen the power of God at work with my own eyes, so I don't have any problem believing.

Acts 4:12; Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

I'm not going to argue with God. If he says there is no other name by which we can be saved than the name of Jesus that is what I'm going to believe!

Okay, so what about the name of God? Some say Yahweh, some say Jehovah. You say tomato and I say tomato (to-mah-to), You say potato and I say potato (po-tah-to). Tomato, tomahto, potato, potahto . lol! I call him God and some say that's wrong. I've been called a lot of things myself, just don't call me late for dinner. Lol! I'm a prophet and I've been used to hearing God's voice for as long as I've lived. If He had any problem with what I called Him I'm sure He would have told me by now. I know one thing for sure though. When I call on Him He hears me, and He responds. Just like it says in Jeremiah 33:3.

Jeremiah 33:3; Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

When I talk to Him He knows who I'm talking to. When I speak in Tongues I don't always know what I'm saying but I know it's the Spirit interceding, so I let Him have His way. Sometimes I call Him Father, and other times I call him Abba. Sometimes I call Him "G" but I'm talking to him as if he were right next to me because that is where I believe he is. If someone has a problem with what I choose to call God let him fight with God about it. The only one that really has a problem with the name Jesus is the devil because that name has power over him (when we use it properly).

Acts 19:13-16; Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

What do you see wrong with this picture? Well, you have seven men all sons of a man named Sceva, which were excorcists. They did not have a personal relationship with Christ but were trying to use his name to cast out devils. Do you think that the devils don't know who you are or what power is working in you? Be careful with trying to do things under your own power or ability. You might get a rude awakening.

I know that when I use the name of Jesus to cast out an unclean spirit the devils flee. When I pray for the sick in the name of Jesus they get healed. When I pray in the name of Jesus the power of God manifests. When I speak about the name of Jesus to people they tremble. There is POWER in that name! I don't know who He is or what He is to you. All I have to worry about is who He is and what He is to me! Shalom
